(2011)
Running time: 81mins
Bonus Features: 39mins
'THE BAR-STEWARD SONS OF VAL DOONICAN'S ROCK N ROLL CIRCUS' was filmed at our favourite little venue in the world, the intimate Lantern Theatre in Nether Edge, Sheffield. This room holds 84 people and has been the location where we recorded several live albums including 'With The Doonicans' and 'Live At The Lantern'. The main feature, an 80 minute concert-film of the new line-up of BS/VD playing mostly original material from Cpl Kipper, Darkside Of The Tarn and Ey Up! Let's Go! was filmed on Nov 19th 2011 at our annual Rock N Roll Circus show, the fourth of it's kind.
We were lucky enough to have the greatest side-show support acts possible, in the form of Circus Veterans: Barnsley folk-blues guru Mr Richard Kitson, folk-starlet Steph Shaw and The Yorkshire Musical Saw Player - Mr Charles Hindmarsh. We also introduced Mike & Harv from the totally inimitable Pocketful O'Nowt to our all-star cast...
The results were truly mind-boggling! This DVD definitely captures the spirit of what BS/VD have evolved into over the last 12 months, showcasing the comical thrills, spills and raw energy of The Bar-Steward Sons live!
Special Features on the DVD include:
Circus Side Show footage of Charles Hindmarsh vs The Three Ages Of Elvis Doonican, Pocketful O' Nowt and a couple of Bar-Stewards performing 'You Are Michael Jackson's Doctor', and behind the scenes bloopers (our 17 minute sound delay distaster in all it's horrific glory!), plus music videos from the BS/VD archives of The Ballad of Kipper Jackson, Strong Arm Of The Law (featuring Graham Oliver from Saxon) and If I Could Punch A Face (starring the rather irritating Mr Justin Bieber).
