We thought, seeing as we were doing a lot more 80's songs in our set at the time, that it'd be fun to do a full 80's album. The concept was to make it sound like an episode of Top Of The Pops.
We then listed a whole load of 80's songs that we liked, but when we looked closely we realised that a lot of them had been number one hits. It was soon decided that the album would feature a number one from every year of the 80s starting in 1980 and finishing in 1989 (plus a few hidden gems!).
It is also the first time we had the pleasure of getting Alan Doonican into the studio to add some accordion tracks.
We then started work on a follow-up DVD, a visual version of the album, including videos for several of the songs, most notibly Danny's wonderful Rick Astley impersonation in the video for 'Never Gonna Give You Up'.
